Slice of Cherry Cover and First Chapter
Author: DiaSo here it is at long last:
And here’s the wrap:
Now, originally they’d wanted the cover to look more like Bleeding Violet, but my agent and I convinced them to veer away from the whole erotic romance vibe to something that was a better reflection of the content. I think they did a great job pulling together the two main aspects of, not just the novel, but my writing style, i.e. blood and whimsy.
In case you’re wondering what’s up with the teacups, in the novel, the sisters are usually sitting around drinking tea while they plan their murderous escapades. Also there’s a “mad tea party” scene that involves one of their victims, which I won’t go into because I know how delicate y’all are. Now the flowers on the back are there because of the many references to plants and gardens; the Headless Garden in particular plays a big role in the story. And all the handwritten font styles mirror Fancy’s dream diary entries that begin each chapter. Don’t you just love getting all this insider info?
Anyway, I’m really excited to see how people react to this book. I keep wondering what the mindblower scene will be. In BV, the boy at the lake is what tends to stick in people’s minds (for better or worse), so I’m curious to know what Slice of Cherry scene will freak people out the most. Cuz there’s kind of a lot to choose from.
To give you a taste of what you’re in for, I’ve included the first chapter of SoC under the Excerpts tab above. Give it a read if you want, but if it blows your hair back, don’t come crying to me about it. You have been warned, children.

Hallo Dia!
I love ‘doodle fonts’ in general, and this one is cute madness! One huge ♥ for the teacups with extra dip. The book is a sparkly gem! ~heh

Ooooo. I can’t wait to add this book to my collection! So pretty. I love the blood and the teacups and the fact that the girls sip tea will discussing murdering people. And hooray for mad tea party scenes!
It’s interesting, I’m a big cry baby when it comes to horror (no horror movies or books for me!) and yet Bleeding Violet didn’t scare or disgust me, it was just fascinating. I tink Slices of Cherry will be the same way
And my guess is if we are reading your blog, we want to read excerpts of your work and we don’t scare easily

Wow, it would certainly catch the attention of people who didn’t think Bleeding Violet was for them. Can’t wait!
Also, Dia, I wanted to make sure my interview request came through your website. I’d love to help promote your work.

Evil Genius. I’m so glad you got a say to sway from the original cover direction.
Your brainwashing skills are “formidable”. I can’t wait to learn from the master.
The cover for slice It’s perfect.
Stark, Delicate and murderous.
The composition is aery, because of it’s delicate balance. The font makes you stare at the loops, and the handwritten style of line shows so much personality, that accents the starkness white from the background even more.
After that speech no secret what I do for living. I’m such a delirious DORK.
Maybe instead of drinks when we meet again, we should go for tea. Plotting and tea.
It’s only fitting don’t you think?

I am so ridiculously excited for Slice Of Cherry!!
While Bleeding Violet’s cover was stunning, this one is eerily, and wonderful!
No joke I am counting down the days until this beautiful book has a home on my shelves right next to it’s disturbingly fantastic sister.
Congratulations!
